The Reds moved on a number of fringe stars and youngsters over the summers.
Taiwo Awoniyi left the club without making a senior appearance, joining Union Berlin.
Marko Grujic signed for Porto having impressed on loan last season. Meanwhile, Harry Wilson ended his long term association with the Reds when he joined Fulham.
Xherdan Shaqiri was the highest profile exit with the Swiss international joining Lyon in a deal worth around £9.5m.
Xherdan Shaqiri wins over Lyon
It’s not easy joining a side late in the window.
You don’t have the privilege of pre-season, you’re thrown in at the deep end.
As a result it’s so impressive how well Xherdan Shaqiri has performed for Lyon.
The Swiss star has won over fans and coaches alike, netting one and assisting one in his first three games.
His manager Peter Bosz has told Le Progrès:
“He didn’t do the preseason with us. The players do not fully understand his qualities and vice versa, but we can all tell he has a great left foot.
“Not only in the way he scored, but also in the balls he was able to give his partners or his crosses, which are extraordinary. He’s a really good player.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool had to let Shaqiri go.
The Swiss international is too good to be on the bench but not good enough to oust Mo Salah.
Finally he gets to show what he’s capable of and we couldn’t be happier for him.
