'Outstanding': Liverpool fans Caoimhin Kelleher vs Norwich City

Caoimhin Kelleher put in a fine performance for Liverpool against Norwich City on Tuesday evening. Fans took to Twitter to praise the Irishman.

Caoimhin Kelleher started in goal for Liverpool against Norwich City – a rare start for the 22-year-old. Kelleher, after all, has to sit on the bench behind Alisson Becker.

But as with last season, it was easy to be impressed by the Irishman. He produced some outstanding moments against Norwich, keeping Liverpool in the game.

The first moments that caught the eye were two headers. Kelleher swept up behind the Reds’ high line to perfection, blunting Norwich beautifully.

However, the penalty save was the real highlight here. Kelleher managed to keep Norwich out from the spot despite diving out of the way – his ability to adjust in midair to stop it with his feet was outstanding.

Understandably, Liverpool fans had a lot to say about Liverpool’s backup goalkeeper. They rate him highly, to say the least.

Special mention to this from Lauren Dalglish, daughter of the king. Apparently, the penalty save was a mere formality.

Kelleher certainly made an impression at Carrow Road. He looks completely comfortable at this level and, to be fair, has since the first time he stepped between the posts for Liverpool.

We do wonder what the long-term future here is, though. Will Kelleher be happy playing second-fiddle for years? Or will he want first-team football.

Because there’s little doubt in our mind that he can start regularly in the Premier League. But that’s a question for another time.

For now, it’s clear that Liverpool have yet another special player.
