In recent years Liverpool have been hard at work assembling the team of tomorrow. The Reds have snapped up top talents from at home and abroad in an effort to make superstars rather than buy them. One such player arrived in February. A Derby County coach believes Kaide Gordon was a bargain signing for Liverpool.
In the years to come we’ll see how successful the Liverpool strategy of buying up top youngsters is.
We can only wait and see how the likes of Melkamu Frauendorf and Mateusz Musialowski develop.
There is also the issue of will Marcelo Pitaluga indeed develop into the heir to Alisson Becker?
Fans will also have an eye on how Sepp van den Berg is getting on in the Championship, he’s been nicknamed ‘the ginger Maldini’ at Preston.
And of course, the injured Harvey Elliott. We can’t wait to have him back.
Derby County coach on Kaide Gordon
In February Liverpool signed Kaide Gordon for an initial £1.1m rising to £3.4m (The Athletic).
Since his arrival he’s been impressing at every academy level. The teenager stormed the U18s side and was promoted to the U23s this season.
At just 16-years-old he appears in line for his Liverpool debut against Norwich City.
One Derby County coach believes Kaide Gordon was a bargain for the Reds, telling The Athletic:
“We knew from what we had seen over the years Liverpool were getting an absolute bargain for what they paid. We knew that if he continued in how he progressed here he was going to be an unbelievable asset for Liverpool.”
What RTK has to say
Anybody could tell you that!
This lad is going to be special and in a few years’ time other sides will be wondering why they didn’t offer Derby County twice what we did.
The Reds are going to make Kaide Gordon into a superstar, the system is in place for him to transition to the first team, he’ll likely make the first step tonight against Norwich City.
This was written before the cup clash, fingers crossed he impressed.
