Liverpool target Franck Kessie rejecting contract offers from AC Milan

It’s no secret that Liverpool fans were left nonplussed by the club’s transfer business this summer. We only made the one signing despite losing a key player from the first team. A potential replacement for the departed star could be edging closer to an exit. Reports in Italy have claimed Liverpool target Franck Kessie is still rejecting contract offers from AC Milan.

Midfielder needed

This summer Jürgen Klopp lost Gini Wijnaldum on a free transfer.

The Dutchman’s contract expired and he joined PSG as a free agent.

Kopites were clamouring for an experience given the player’s reliability and importance to the side.

The boss insisted he is happy with his options.

However, we’ve already seen two centre midfielders injured. Harvey Elliott will be out for some time whilst the extent of the Thiago injury remains to be seen.

As a result the need for a midfielder to come in is becoming all the more important.

Liverpool target Franck Kessie rejecting Milan contract offers

Over the summer one of the Italian Serie A’s most talented midfielders entered the final year of his deal.

According to Tuttosport, via Il Milanista, Liverpool target Franck Kessie is still rejecting new contract offers from AC Milan.

The Ivorian is said be making wage demands beyond what the Italian giants are prepared to pay.

The report goes on to say that Liverpool and Manchester United are among the two clubs lurking should he become available.

Il Milanista previously claimed that Liverpool could make a January move for the box-to-box dynamo.

What RTK has to say

Liverpool moving for Kessie makes perfect sense but not in January.

Given that we can negotiate a free transfer from the New Year it wouldn’t make sense to pay over the odds to get him a few months earlier.

However, it is encouraging to hear that he’s still turning down Milanese advances.
