Liverpool have enjoyed great success under Jürgen Klopp but it was some years in the making. The Reds had to steadily assemble their world beating squad. One of the side’s most important players has outlined his plans for the future. Alisson Becker has said he’d like to rejoin Internacional before he retires.
The Holy Goalie
In 2018 Liverpool lost the Champions League final in Kiev.
The defeat came as a result of two horrendous errors from Loris Karius.
Within weeks the German was replaced between the sticks.
Liverpool signed Alisson Becker from Roma for around £67m.
The Brazilian was the final piece of the puzzle: a world class goalkeeper to backup the world class defence.
He won the Golden Glove in his debut season and has since added an embarrassment of team and individual awards and trophies.
Alisson want Internacional return
The 28-year-old recently signed a six-year extension with the Reds.
His new deal was fantastic news for all associated with the club, he’s undroppable and to have him commit for the best part of his career is encouraging.
When that deal is up who knows what will happen? Speaking to Sky Sports (via The Mirror), Alisson has said he’d like to rejoin Internacional if the opportunity arose.
However, he was quick to clarify that he’s very happy on Merseyside and would have no problems with retiring at Anfield.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool fans don’t need to worry about the Holy Goalie going anywhere any time soon.
The Brazilian will be here well into his 30s, then he’ll look at where he wants to hang up his boots.
It’s only natural to want to return to the place where it all started.
We wouldn’t be surprised if James Milner rejoined Leeds United at some point in the next couple of years.
