"Over anyone": Darren Bent would take Mo Salah over Jack Grealish

Former Premier League striker Darren Bent has stated that he would take Mohamed Salah over any winger in the Premier League.

The Liverpool star has started the season in excellent form, continuing where he left off last campaign.

Salah has four goals and two assists in his first five games in the league and Champions League.

His strike against Leeds was his 100th in the Premier League, taking him into the elite ‘100 Club’.

He joins Bent and 27 others in the elusive list of players to have bagged over a century of goals in the division.

Now, Bent has been signing Salah’s praises on Talksport, saying he would take him over any winger in the Premier League, including Manchester City’s £100m man Jack Grealish.

He said: “He’s still unbelievable, Salah.”

When asked to choose between he and Grealish, the ex-England striker said: “Salah, every day. Every day, all day.

“I’d have Salah on that right-hand side, maybe even left, over anyone else in the Premier League.”

In RTK’s view, this isn’t even a debate. As good as Grealish is, Salah trumps him by far in our eyes.

No, it is not all about numbers, but they are all you have to look at when comparing the two.

Since 2017/18, Salah has 100 league goals and 35 assists, while Grealish has 24 and 28. This is despite the fact that the Englishman was in the Championship for much of this spell, although he did play deeper at times and in a weaker team.

However, the gap is big enough to ignore these caveats.

Aside from Lionel Messi, Salah is the best right-sided forward in the world and by some distance.

He is far and away the best right-winger in England, with Riyad Mahrez and Jadon Sancho coming closest to his crown.

Yet they simply are not better than the 29-year-old.

Grealish, Sadio Mane and Heung-Min Son are up there on the left, but we would still take Salah.

Grealish may be easier on the eye, but ultimately goals and assists are the most important attributes in football.

We are certain that Salah will have another superb goal-scoring season, which will remove any doubt that anybody may have.
