Leeds United 0-3 Liverpool

This is the kind of game you just have to win if you want to win the title.

The tough aways, the games where the crowd can make a difference.

Thankfully, Jürgen Klopp’s side kept their head as they cruised to victory with ease.

In the first half Joel Matip strode into the opposition final third , exchanging a quick one-two before finding Trent Alexander-Arnold who in turn assisted Mo Salah for a tap in.

Early in the second half a persistent Fabinho netted from a corner.

The game was then marred by a horror injury for Harvey Elliott.

Two minutes into eight minutes of added time Sadio Mane scored with his tenth shot of the game.

Garth Crooks on Virgil van Dijk

It was another performance to highlight the unparalleled composure of our Dutch centre back.

Once again he didn’t seem to break a sweat whilst keeping the opposition at bay.

Garth Crooks was wowed by Virgil van Dijk, writing in the BBC Team of the Week:

“Van Dijk was part of another clean sheet against Leeds but looks menacing in the opposition penalty area once again.

“He’s been outstanding for Liverpool since his return. With Van Dijk in the team anything is possible for Liverpool again.”

What RTK has to say

Liverpool keeping Virgil van Dijk fit is utterly vital to our success this season.

The Dutchman is a calming presence at the back, for fans, teammates and just about everybody else.

The way in which he plays the game without ever looking pressed, without ever looking bothered, it’s a joy to behold.
