Liverpool have produced some special talents at the academy over the years. Trent Alexander-Arnold is the current poster boy for the Reds’ youth setup. Not everybody who shines for the academy can make an impression in the first team and they’ll often find themselves out on loan. One such player has impressed for his new club. Twitter has praised Ben Woodburn after his Hearts home debut against Hibernian.
Record breaking youngster
Now 21-years-old, Ben Woodburn joined the Liverpool youth set up at U7 level.
He shone at every youth level and earned himself a breakthrough into the first team at a young age.
In 2016 the Welshman became the youngest Liverpool scorer of all time when he netted in a League Cup quarter final against Leeds United at just 17 years and 45 days old.
However his Anfield career didn’t kick on as expected.
A series of injuries and ill-fated loan moves caused his progress to stall.
Over the summer he entered the final year of his deal but despite his expiring contract he has been loaned to Hearts.
Ben Woodburn Hearts debut
Today the youngster made his first start for his new club.
Ben Woodburn made his Hearts debut in the Edinburgh derby against Hibernian.
The game ended a goalless draw but the Welshman impressed.
