Liverpool video of Virgil van Dijk recovery met with suspicion on Twitter

Last season was dreadful wasn’t it? The 2020/21 campaign was the most dismal, forgettable, sterile season in Premier League history. The only moment to take away from the wreckage is Alisson Becker’s last minute winner. Kopites have been left with mental scars from the season. So much so that some Liverpool fans think bad news is set to follow a video following Virgil van Dijk through his recovery.

Injury crisis

Last season we saw the worst injury crisis in Premier League history devastate the Reds.

Jürgen Klopp lost key player after key player with the first major absence being the most important: Virgil van Dijk.

Jordan Pickford ruptured the Dutchman’s ACL when he flew in at knee height during the Merseyside Derby in October.

Incompetent refereeing saved the Everton keeper from a red card.

The centre back was ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Virgil van Dijk recovery

Thankfully it’s all over now.

We can look back on that season without our number four as if it were all just a bad dream.

Virgil van Dijk made a full recovery and he’s started each of our Premier League games this season.

It wasn’t an easy task to come back from the injury he suffered and as a result the club have put out a short film documenting his return.

With quotes from the club’s recovery specialist and from Pep Lijnders, the video offers an inspiration account of the player’s journey back.

Twitter reaction

Plenty of fans are pleased with the tweet, responding with their love of the centre back. However, some supporters are worried the emotional montage could be a precursor to some bad news.
