Liverpool are desperate for a striker. The Reds are severely lacking in depth in the final third and we’re certainly short of a lethal finisher, a proper number nine. This week, reported Liverpool target Alexander Isak showed us why he’s perfect for Jürgen Klopp after just five minutes against Spain.
Liverpool need a striker
The Reds are clearly short of quality in depth in the final third.
Jürgen Klopp has just four players capable of playing in our attacking three, after that there is a massive drop off in quality.
A couple of injuries could leave us on the ropes, we’ve already lost Roberto Firmino for a couple of weeks.
Furthermore we are short of an out and out striker.
Bobby is an effective false nine but when we’re crying out for a goal against a stubborn low block we need a fox in the box.
Liverpool want Alexander Isak
Throughout the summer the Reds were linked with an array of strikers.
AS claimed Liverpool held a strong interest in Alexander Isak.
The Swedish striker netted 17 goals for Real Sociedad last season, an impressive tally at just 21-years-old.
His fine form was rewarded with a new contract which reportedly raised his release clause to around £77m.
Five minutes to shine
This week Sweden inflicted Spain’s first World Cup Qualifying defeat since 1993.
The Spanish went 1-0 up after just four minutes but their lead didn’t last long.
Pretty much straight from the restart Alexander Isak pounced on a lackadaisical defender, stealing the ball away before rifling into the bottom corner from just outside the box.
It was a phenomenal strike and it took him just five minutes to get on the score sheet.
He demonstrated his work rate, determination and finishing ability in the space of about five seconds. In short he demonstrated everything Liverpool need in a striker.
