Liverpool have been drawn in a tough Champions League group. The Reds will be facing off against some top sides, we need to have our best and brightest on the job. According to a report, Liverpool are set to leave Loris Karius out of the Champions League squad in favour of Adrian. Doing so would be a big mistake.
Liverpool Champions League group
The Reds have been dealt arguably the toughest group of the lot.
Liverpool have been drawn alongside Atletico Madrid, Porto and AC Milan.
The Spanish champions have recently knocked the Reds out of the competition, though Kopites will remind you that Alisson Becker’s absence decided the tie.
Porto had a strong run in last season’s competition before being knocked out in the quarter finals by eventual winners Chelsea.
Meanwhile AC Milan are back in the competition and will be looking to get one over on the Reds with the scars of Istanbul never disappearing.
Loris Karius to be left out of Champions League squad
The Reds are facing something of a headache when it comes to the squad for the group stage.
Harvey Elliott’s emergence has made him undroppable, as a result he simply has to be in the squad.
However, complications around club trained players and the ‘B list’ have left the Reds only able to register 24 players for the group stage.
According to the Liverpool ECHO, Loris Karius is likely to be the man to miss out on the Champions League squad.
Liverpool not selecting Loris Karius ahead of Adrian would be a massive error.
The German may have a shaky reputation at best but when it comes to shot stopping he is a much better than Adrian.
In addition, the Spanish keeper doesn’t exactly have a spotless record himself when it comes to errors leading to goals.
If Karius is to stick around for the season then he should be above Adrian in the pecking order.
