Sadio Mane says he immediately saw an ideal trait in Ibrahima Konate. It’s one the Liverpool star lacked himself when joining in 2016.
Ibrahima Konate turned out to be Liverpool’s only major signing of the 2021 summer transfer window. While it’s undoubtedly a little disappointing that the Reds didn’t do more, Konate himself looks like a possible star.
We think he’s got huge potential, having established himself as a Bundesliga centre-back at a very young age. Konate has the physical traits to dominate in the Premier League, too – Liverpool just need to integrate him properly.
And it sounds as though that won’t be an issue. Sadio Mane already sees fantastic signs in that regard.
Mane on Konate
“He is a very nice lad and from the first day he was with us, I was really surprised because it was like he has been here for years,” said Mane, per Liverpoolfc.com. “With myself that was not the case because I am a bit shy, but he just came in and settled straight away which is really important.
“You could see in pre-season that he was doing well from the start and we are really, really happy to have him. I feel that this year he will have a great season for Liverpool.”
You can’t ask for much more. While we’re yet to see Konate in a competitive game, it’s fantastic to hear that he’s settled in regardless.
As we say, Konate has all the tools to be a massive success with Liverpool. The trick is just making sure he fits in and uses those tools in the right way for the team.
Feeling at home and settling in is really the first hurdle but Mane believes Konate had that immediately. It’s a fantastic sign that Konate will be a success with Liverpool.
Now we just need to get him on the pitch.
