Liverpool teen Kaide Gordon making debut v Norwich is vitally important

Liverpool are short of numbers in the final third. The Reds refused to strengthen the attack over the summer and as a result we now can’t afford any injuries to key attackers. Liverpool neglecting to add depth to the attack has made Kaide Gordon and his senior debut against Norwich vitally important.

Lack of Liverpool signings

Kopites have been left frustrated this summer.

The Reds were obviously in need of an attacker yet no such move materialised.

Despite a raft of players leaving the club both on loan and on permanent deals, the only signing made was Ibrahima Konate.

The final third is in dire need of reinforcements.

As it stands we have four players capable of challenging for three starting roles.

After that there is a severe drop off in quality, hence why Kopites were crying out for a forward to come in and push the front three.

Kaide Gordon set for Norwich debut

The Reds may not have much to shout about in terms of attacking additions of late but the academy has signed a number of top talents.

One such player is so highly rated that he is set for a senior appearance soon.

The Athletic has reported that Kaide Gordon is expected to make his senior debut against Norwich in the EFL Cup this season.

The game is set to take place on the 21st of September, meaning the youngster will be just 16-years-old.

Vitally important debut

How Kaide Gordon performs against Norwich could be crucial for the Reds this season.

Should the youngster show he is capable of going toe to toe with Premier League opposition then his progression into the first team fold could be accelerated.

We could be without Sadio Mane and Mo Salah for a month in January.

As it stands we have just Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino to fill in, neither have looked up to the required standard of late.

Should Kaide Gordon impress against Norwich then he could provide vital cover throughout the season.

It would be a massive ask but as the saying goes, “if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.”
