Liverpool are set to send Rhys Williams on loan to Swansea City

Liverpool have moved on a number of players during this transfer window. The Reds have had something of a clear out with fringe players sold and youngsters loaned out. Another hot prospect looks set for a season away. According to The Athletic, Liverpool are set to send Rhys Williams on loan to Swansea City.

Rhys Williams rise

Last season the Reds had to make ends meet in the centre of defence.

Liverpool lost every senior centre back to the treatment table with Virgil van Dijk ruled out for the season as early as October.

The boss had to turn to the academy for bodies at the back.

Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips were conscripted and both impressed when given their chances.

Williams finished the campaign with 15 appearances in all competitions and a thoroughly boosted reputation, Jürgen Klopp called him ‘absolutely incredible’.

Rhys Williams loan to Swansea City

This summer has seen the Reds move on a number of fringe players whilst promising youngsters have headed out temporarily.

Leighton Clarkson has joined Blackburn Rovers whilst Sepp van den Berg is enjoying life at Preston North End.

Rhys Williams is now set for a loan move to Swansea City, joining his academy peers in the Championship.

The Athletic has claimed the 20-year-old is likely to join the Welsh side before the close of the window.

The Championship is an incredibly physical but high quality division.

Rhys Williams will benefit greatly from playing every week in the second tier.
