The Dutchman played more minutes than any other player during the Jürgen Klopp era.
That kind of reliability needs to be dealt with, otherwise a couple of injuries could leave us in the lurch.
Furthermore, the Reds need to add strength in depth to the final third.
At the moment we only have the four players covering three attacking roles.

Other clubs in the Premier League aren’t behaving as cautiously.
According to a report by the Sunday Mirror (29/8; page 66), Spurs are weighing up a move for Yves Bissouma.
The Malian midfielder is thought to be attracting a lot of attention this summer.
It would allegedly take a fee of around £40m to convince Brighton to sell their star man in the middle.

Duncan Castles is one of a number of journalists to report that Liverpool maintain an interest in Bissouma.
As a result Reds supporters are a touch despondent after reading we could miss out on him.
