Liverpool fans are getting excited about Kaide Gordon. The 16-year-old prodigy has been making waves since his arrival from Derby County in January. Having impressed during pre-season we’re expecting to see him in the domestic cups this term. Liverpool U23s captain Tom Clayton has been waxing lyrical about Kaide Gordon.
Kaide Gordon future star
In January the Reds swooped for Wayne Rooney’s protege at Derby County.
Kaide Gordon had recently been handed his senior debut by Rooney, a man who knows a thing or two about breaking into the first team at a young age.
Since his arrival he’s impressed for Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s U18s.
On the final day of last season he came one as a sub for the U23s and he netted to mark the occasion.
Over the summer he was afforded regular minutes in pre-season friendlies and impressed enough to be tipped for domestic cup appearances this term.
Tom Clayton on Kaide Gordon
The teenager has started the season with the U23s.
Recently appointed U23s captain Tom Clayton has been raving about Kaide Gordon.
The Reds’ youngster has been stunned by the new arrival’s ability, telling Goal:
“You can judge people quite quickly, whether it’s their passing or their first touch.
“It was the same with Harvey [Elliott] as it was with Kaide. It was ‘wow, he’s got something special.’
“I try to stay away from him in training! It’s tough, because he’s got that bit of magic in him. I’m just glad I don’t have to play against him every weekend!”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Kaide Gordon could go down as one of our finest pieces of business.
This week he scored against Everton in the mini-derby, in the next month we could see him turn out against Norwich in the EFL Cup.
He doesn’t turn 16-years-old until October but he’s already making a name for himself.
If he impresses against the Canaries then who knows where he’ll end up this season, perhaps he’ll make some Premier League appearances from the bench.
