Liverpool are in need of reinforcements in the midfield, according to plenty of fans and pundits at least. The boss seems to have a different view. Despite what the gaffer says the Reds are still persistently linked with midfielders. Duncan Castles has reported that Liverpool want Yves Bissouma and have asked Brighton how much they want for him.
Midfield paper thin
The midfield situation at Liverpool is difficult to analyse.
On the face of it we are well stocked with options.
Unfortunately, plenty of these options are wholly unreliable.
In recent seasons we’ve seen Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain persistently rocked by injuries.
Furthermore, the skipper Jordan Henderson is also returning from a long term injury.
This summer we lost Gini Wijnaldum to PSG on a free transfer.
The Dutchman was our most reliable man in the middle, he rarely missed a Premier League game during his five-year stint at Anfield.
We need to replace that reliability.
Liverpool ask about Yves Bissouma
There is still time for the Reds to add numbers to the midfield.
Liverpool have been persistently linked with a move for Yves Bissouma.
The 24-year-old Malian midfielder has been a standout performer for Brighton this season after an impressive campaign last time out.
Duncan Castles has shed light on the in demand star’s future, telling the Transfer Window Podcast:
“My information is that there are inquiries from Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal as to how much it would cost to sign [Bissouma].
“Now he has improved significantly during his time at Brighton and what is quite important here is that his statistics are exceptionally good…
“You can see why his game would fit Liverpool’s set up under Klopp.”
What RTK has to say
He is just perfect for us.
Just 24-years-old and already boasting a wealth of Premier League experience, he is a virtually risk free move.
He will only get better and his value will only increase.
At the moment the midfield is a little busy, perhaps we should chuck Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in any deal? They aren’t the same mould of player but The Ox’s flair would suit Graham Potter’s side.
