Liverpool will have to meet crazy demands if they wish to sign Erling Haaland. The Reds have been tipped as a potential destination.
This comes from Bild. They claim that agent Mino Raiola has some incredible demands for clubs wanting Erling Haaland.
Chelsea is one such club – or at least, they were before signing Romelu Lukaku. They approached Raiola over Haaland, says the source, only to be met with obscene figures.
The Blues would have had to pay Haaland £42m per year, while also giving Raiolo £34m as well as a salary. That’s on top of any transfer fee Borussia Dortmund would request.
Understandably, Chelsea walked away. But what does this mean for Liverpool?
Incredible Erling Haaland demands
Liverpool will almost certainly want a new striker next summer. They currently only have Roberto Firmino as a first-choice striker, unless Diogo Jota learns the role.
But with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Firmino all moving into their 30s, there’s a real need to invest in at least one star. Liverpool can’t afford to slip as those three decline.
Eurosport has previously named Liverpool as interested in Haaland, too – and why wouldn’t they be? He’s scored 62 goals in no time at all for Dortmund and is shaping up to be a star for a long time to come.
But if these are the demands, Liverpool can forget about it. Haaland’s good but not worth those figures.
That £34m agent fee alone is what Liverpool paid for Salah. We can’t imagine getting the same kind of output from having Raioa on the wing.
So while transfer plans do point to a major 2022, that surely won’t mean paying this kind of money for Haaland. You can build a decent squad for that kind of cash – a squad that’s more likely to deliver trophies than one superstar.
Liverpool are better off not getting involved.
