Report: Liverpool scouts were watching Mikkel Damsgaard at the weekend

Liverpool fans are hoping for movement in the transfer window. Thus far the Reds have only brought in the one player: Ibrahima Konate. Whilst we are all pleased with the addition plenty of Kopites think we need to upgrade our depth in attack. According to reports in Italy, Liverpool scouts were watching Mikkel Damsgaard at the weekend.

Depth in attack

As it stands there is very little depth in the final third.

We have four capable attackers covering three positions.

Given the amount of games the Reds have to play each season we can’t rely on just the four forwards.

We run the risk of injury if we run our best players into the ground.

Furthermore, the lack of options up top means a lack of competition for places.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

Adding another forward means the boss can rest and rotate whilst also keeping our attackers on their toes.

Liverpool watching Mikkel Damsgaard

Plenty of names have been floated during this window.

One name is that of one of Denmark’s standout players from Euro 2020.

According to Il Secolo XIX, as relayed by Sampnews24, Liverpool scouts were watching Mikkel Damsgaard at the weekend.

The Sampdoria star was deployed on the left wing as his side fell to a 1-0 defeat against AC Milan.

Liverpool are allegedly keen on the 21-year-old utility man but are waiting to see if Spurs make a move before they launch a decisive bid for the youngster.

What RTK has to say

Liverpool are in dire need of numbers in the final third.

Mikkel Damsgaard would be an FSG signing down to a tee.

He is young which means his value is likely to increase over time and he would come without the burden of massive wages.

Furthermore, he can play in a number of different positions which is useful for Jürgen Klopp given that the boss likes to work with a small squad.
