Liverpool have been busy this week. Michael Edwards has sorted out two exits from the club as the transfer window edges closer to shutting. Liverpool could have a signing lined up given Ben Woodburn leaving for Hearts despite Jürgen Klopp reportedly delaying the move.
Key exits from Liverpool
Michael Edwards has raked in some decent transfer fees this summer.
Xherdan Shaqiri has joined Lyon after protracted negotiations.
Earlier in the window Marko Grujic headed for Porto after impressing the Portuguese side on loan last term.
Closer to home Harry Wilson signed for Fulham, bringing to an end his 16 years at Liverpool.
A number of loan moves have been sorted as well; Sepp van den Berg has returned to Preston, Leighton Clarkson has joined Blackburn Rovers and Ben Davies has headed to Sheffield United.
Ben Woodburn joins Hearts on loan
Back in 2016 Ben Woodburn became the youngest scorer in Liverpool history when he netted against Leeds United.
The Welshman’s career has stalled since with injuries interrupting loan moves.
This summer he entered the final year of his deal but impressed during pre-season.
Despite his form in friendlies, Ben Woodburn has joined Hearts on loan for the season.
Liverpool signing lined up?
Prior to Ben Woodburn heading for Hearts, the Scotsman reported that Jürgen Klopp asked the Welshman to wait on his move.
Now that the loan has gone through we are left wondering why he was asked to wait.
Given the departure of Xherdan Shaqiri we could assume that Liverpool have a signing lined up.
The boss could have been waiting on confirmation from Edwards that talks were progressing elsewhere before he let Woodburn go.
Why else delay his move away if not because we were concerned about squad depth?
His departure came on the same as Shaq’s – both allowed to leave because their replacement was secure?
