Liverpool lost one of their modern day icons this summer. The Reds have chosen not to replace the key midfielder and Kopites are clamouring for a replacement. Meanwhile, PSG fans have been a touch underwhelmed by Gini Wijnaldum so far.
PSG sign Gini Wijnaldum
This summer PSG signed Gini Wijnaldum on a free transfer.
The Dutchman’s contract at Anfield was up and an agreement on an extension couldn’t be reached.
During his time at Liverpool he established himself as a modern day great.
He scored vitally important goals in vitally important games.
Fans will never forget his brace against Barcelona in that comeback.
No replacement coming
As it stands all of the noise is that Liverpool won’t be replacing Gini Wijnaldum.
The wisdom of this decision is being questioned far and wide.
Fans’ skepticism is understandable given what happened when we didn’t replace Dejan Lovren last summer.
Gini Wijnaldum played more minutes for Liverpool than any other player during the Jürgen Klopp era.
He rarely missed a Premier League game, not replacing a man that reliable is an incredibly risky move, particularly given the injury record of the rest of our midfield.
PSG fans on Gini Wijnaldum
So far the Dutchman has played three league games for his new club.
It’s safe to say PSG fans are a tad underwhelmed by Gini Wijnaldum thus far.
The midfielder has earned a WhoScored rating of just 6.54 for his performances. Whilst we haven’t seen the games ourselves we imagine the Dutchman is still trying to shake the discipline Jürgen Klopp drilled into him during his five years at Anfield.
