Liverpool are short of a lethal striker. The Reds play with a false nine currently but it’s time to upgrade to that mythical, 25-goal striker every team hopes for. Jürgen Klopp has been gushing over Erling Haaland amid links to Liverpool.
Liverpool need a striker
Roberto Firmino has been back on song in recent weeks but there are still question marks over his future.
The Brazilian is there to create but when we face low, stubborn blocks his game can be rendered somewhat ineffective.
Last season showed us that the time is nearing for when the Reds need to swap Bobby out for an out and out striker.
Jürgen Klopp on Erling Haaland
Next summer is likely to see one of the footballing world’s hottest properties on the move.
Eurosport is one of a number of outlets to report on Liverpool interest in Erling Haaland.
The links are only natural, he scored 27 goals in 27 starts last term.
According to Sport1, as cited by The Mirror, his release clause will be set at £76m next summer.
Jürgen Klopp was recently asked about Erling Haaland, the boss told Bild TV:
“The boy is a force of nature who develops his own energy, he’s an incredibly exciting player who’s fun.
“He is an extraordinary talent. Sooner or later he will be in discussion with large clubs. I don’t know if that will be the case next summer, but then Dortmund will have to counter it.”
When pressed on whether he’d like to sign the striker the boss joked that he doesn’t have Haaland’s number before adding:
“He’s just a very interesting player. I really like the energy he brings to the pitch. But he would generally be seen by most teams.”
What RTK has to say
We’re going to take the boss not dismissing the rumour outright as total confirmation that we’re signing Haaland.
He is the perfect player for Jürgen Klopp.
Look at what the boss did with Robert Lewandowski, our manager can turn imposing strikers into world class centre forwards.
Fingers crossed there’s legs in this story.
