Liverpool 2-0 Burnley

The Reds were back in front a packed Anfield today and you could tell.

It was a completely different Liverpool to the side we saw at home last season.

Liverpool cruised to victory over Burnley looking in control throughout the game.

It was Diogo Jota who grabbed the opening goal, nodding home from an exquisite Kostas Tsimikas cross.

The second half saw the lead doubled by Sadio Mane.

The Senegal forward rounded off a passage of play which emphasised just how important Virgil van Dijk is to our attacking play.

Big Virg raked a ball out to Harvey Elliott who took it down wonderfully before finding Trent Alexander-Arnold who in turn flicked a delicious pass through to Mane.

Alisson Becker pulled out an unbelievable save in the dying moments to keep his clean sheet, he’ll be hoping for the Golden Glove this term.

This game was particularly significant for one young man in particular.

Harvey Elliott made his full Premier League debut v Burnley.

The 18-year-old was in outstanding form today.

Although he gave the ball away on occasion it was an incredibly encouraging performance.
