Jurgen Klopp says it’s ‘absolutely insane’ that Mohamed Salah has so many records already. The Liverpool star broke another one last weekend.
Mohamed Salah is very, very good. So good, in fact, that he consistently breaks records.
We got one in his debut season as Salah’s 32 goals set a new milestone for a Premier League 38-game season. No one saw that coming and he’s since proven it was far from a fluke.
Salah’s most recent record came against Norwich City, though. The Egyptian bagged Liverpool’s third goal in a 3-0 win, having set up the first two.
That goal made it the fifth consecutive season-opener in which Salah scored. No other Premier League player has scored in more than four.
It’s a wonderful statistic and one that certainly impresses Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp on Salah records
“Mo is aware of all these things, it’s absolutely fine,” said Klopp, per Liverpoolfc.com. “He enjoys the time here, that’s how it is. Breaking records is great, absolutely, and the records he broke already is absolutely insane.
“So, I obviously didn’t know last week when he scored the goal that he was now the first player in the history of the Premier League to score in the first game in five consecutive seasons.
“There’s a reason why nobody did it – it’s really difficult. He did it. And if there are any records out there, he will know about it.”
Salah could actually break another record today. He’s two away from 100 Premier League goals.
Hitting the milestone against Burnley would make him joint-fourth fastest in Premier League history with Thierry Henry. Only Alan Shearer, Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero would be faster.
As a result, Salah would be the fastest Liverpool player to reach the mark.
And as one of the world’s best goalscorers, we’ll probably back him to do it.
