Liverpool should keep their eyes on Arnaut Danjuma, despite his move to Villarreal. The Reds reportedly wanted him this summer.
Arnaut Danjuma has just completed a £21.3m move to Villarreal. We can safely assume that Liverpool aren’t signing him this summer, then.
Marca claimed Liverpool wanted him, though, after an impressive campaign with Bournemouth last season. Danjuma scored 17 goals in the Championship, assisting another seven.
Now, those figures might not directly translate to the Premier League but the player is still only 24. There’s great potential there and Villarreal, it appears, can see it.
And so it’s important to remember that this shouldn’t be the end of Liverpool’s interest. It might even grow it.
Arnaut Danjuma moves to Villarreal
We went into detail here about why Liverpool might want Danjuma. In short, it’s not just his goals and assists that impress.
The Dutchman is also a fantastic pressing player, as he showed in his brief Premier League spell with Bournemouth. Pressing is a huge part of Liverpool’s game, of course.
Targeting a Championship player for such strengths was a risk but one that could pay off huge. As we’ve explained, players can see their values dramatically rise simply by playing in a better league – they don’t even necessarily have to improve as players.
Signing them early, then, can end up saving millions upon millions. Liverpool clearly won’t be taking that approach, though.

Instead, they’ll need to have eyes on Danjuma in La Liga. And while they might not save money, now there’s an opportunity to make this a risk-free deal.
Liverpool will know Danjuma’s strengths and want to see them at the highest level. La Liga is exactly that and if he continues to impress, you can bet the Reds will consider a move. They’ll fancy their chances of signing someone from Villarreal, after all – they’re not a rich club.
Financially, this isn’t beneficial for Liverpool. But this move to Villarreal may end up proving to them that Danjuma is the right player.
This remains one to watch.
