Liverpool fans have been hoping for a striker to arrive this summer. With each passing day it looks more and more inevitable that this summer won’t see any decisive change in the attacking line. According to reports in Germany, Liverpool chances of signing Erling Haaland have been boosted by an adjustment in the player’s contract.

Erling Haaland goal machine
Erling Haaland has taken the football world by storm in recent years.
The Norwegian youngster has been scoring buckets of goals for club and country.
He was netting them for fun in Austria when he was playing up top for RB Salzburg before he joined Borussia Dortmund.
Last season he netted 27 goals in 27 starts and one sub appearance in the Bundesliga.
He started this season with two goals and three assists in one game. He is, frankly, phenomenal.
Liverpool chances of signing Erling Haaland boosted
The whole football world is wondering where the Norwegian will go next.
Next summer the striker’s release clause comes into play, making him incredibly affordable given his immense talent.
According to Sport1, as cited by The Mirror, Dortmund have agreed an adjustment to the player’s contract which will see the release clause rise to around £76m.
The Mirror has reported that the feeling is that the increase in the player’s release clause will push him closer to a Premier League move due to the financial dire straits facing other European clubs.
Van Dijk precedent
Back in 2018 Liverpool signed Virgil van Dijk for £75m.
The deal to bring the Dutchman to Anfield can be seen as encouragement when it comes to Liverpool and Erling Haaland.
The Reds are willing to pay what it takes to secure the right player at the right time.
Erling Haaland could well be that player, he is in the Jürgen Klopp mould; just compare him in stature to Robert Lewandowski – the boss worked wonders with the Polish striker at Dortmund.
Perhaps now is time to hand Klopp his next striking protege.
