Liverpool fans are heading into work this Monday on a high. The Reds won their opening game of the season. Liverpool brushed Norwich aside at Carrow Road with an elite performance from our Egyptian King. Garth Crooks has heaped praise on Mo Salah in his BBC Team of the Week.
Norwich 0-3 Liverpool
This weekend saw the Reds win without ever getting out of third gear.
Jürgen Klopp’s side cruised past Norwich City in a 3-0 win.
It was Diogo Jota with the opener, the Portugal forward finished instinctively from close range after the ball broke to him thanks to a lucky touch from Mo Salah.
The second was netted by Roberto Firmino with Salah once again the provider.
The Egyptian King bagged a goal of his own with 15 minutes remaining, curling one past Tim Krul after the ball arrived at him on the edge of the box from a corner.
Garth Crooks on Mo Salah
Garth Crooks named Mo Salah in his BBC Team of the Week.
The Egyptian was named up top alongside Mason Greenwood and Richarlison.
Crooks was waxing lyrical about the winger’s goal, writing:
“The way Liverpool’s Egypt international positioned himself to receive the ball with his left foot and plant it so perfectly in order to strike the ball past Tim Krul, before a single Norwich player had time to move, was pure genius.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool are still relying heavily on Mo Salah. Who wouldn’t?
He is truly one of the game’s greats.
The Egyptian King became the first player ever to score on the opening weekend in five consecutive seasons.
That impressive record is one of many he has broken and tells you all you need to know about just how important he is.
