'Outstanding': Jurgen Klopp says 'everybody' would sign Naby Keita

Jurgen Klopp believes everyone would ‘probably’ want to sign Naby Keita. He feels the Liverpool no.8 is an ‘outstanding player’.

Jurgen Klopp still holds Naby Keita in high regard, despite his struggles at Liverpool. In fact, he feels ‘everybody’ would want to sign the Guinean.

“Naby can make the next step with a full pre-season, an exceptional pre-season, so he can make the next step,” he said, per

“We cannot just ignore that and he’s an outstanding player who everybody wants to sign probably.”

Klopp hails Keita

It’s a big statement as we head into year four of Keita at Liverpool. He’s yet to have anything like the impact we felt he would.

The 26-year-old has struggled badly with injuries over the years. They’ve robbed him of any consistency in the Liverpool side and Keita has rarely, if ever, established himself as a starting player.

But there is undoubtedly ‘outstanding’ talent there. Keita is a fantastic dribbler and his control can be magnificent.

He’s got a great engine, too, and it’s often very obvious how he could fit into Liverpool at his best. There are just too many games where none of that shows up and Keita gets lost in games.

But Klopp is right. Teams would love to sign Keita and have a go at unlocking his potential themselves – RB Leipzig did it, after all.

Liverpool, though, are going to have another go themselves. Gini Wijnaldum’s absence creates opportunities for Keita to establish himself, certainly.

The first of those may come later today, in fact, as both Jordan Henderson and Thiago remain doubts for the game. It’s a wonderful opportunity to throw Keita in after, as Klopp says, a really good pre-season.

We’ll cross our fingers, then. Perhaps this is the year Keita puts that outstanding talent into practice.
