Liverpool fans have been crying out for signings this summer. Our rivals have made some big money moves and plenty of Kopites are worried we could be left behind as a result. However, we have made one key signing, one which has the squad excited. Trent Alexander-Arnold has been heaping praise on Ibrahima Konate.
Liverpool sign Ibrahima Konate
The Reds suffered an injury crisis last year.
Jürgen Klopp lost every single senior centre back to injury.
By the end of the season we’d gone through 20 different partnerships.
As a result strengthening the centre of the defence was always going to be a priority.
The Reds decided against making Ozan Kabak’s loan move permanent and instead opted to sign their preferred target from RB Leipzig.
Liverpool brought Ibrahima Konate in for a fee of around £36m.
Trent Alexander-Arnold on Ibrahima Konate
The 22-year-old Frenchman has impressed in pre-season.
He has obviously made an impression his teammates with his strong performances on the pitch and in training.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has praised Ibrahima Konate, telling Sky Sports:
“He’s a very athletic boy, which is probably something more common now with centre-backs. Being amazing athletes, who are fast and strong and he ticks all those boxes. He’s still young. But he’s got huge potential.”
“I think obviously learning and playing next to Virgil, he’s one of those players you instantly pick up things from – just his positioning and the way he commands the defence.”
What RTK has to say
Huge potential is the right way to put it.
At just 22-years-old Konate has at least a decade ahead of him.
He won’t peak for another eight or nine years and for most of those years he’ll be learning from one of the game’s best in Van Dijk.
We have a real prospect on our hands here.
