Liverpool hope to add a forward to their transfers this summer and Adama Traore is an option, according to reports. The Spaniard might be too expensive, however.
This comes from 90min. They claim Liverpool are ‘determined’ to sign a forward before the end of the transfer window.
And as they look at potential transfers, Adama Traore is on the table. Wolves would apparently sell for around £40m
Liverpool don’t want to go that high, though. They’re hopeful they can talk Wolves down from that price and ‘strike a deal’.
The Reds, working under a ‘slightly restrictive’ budget this summer, hope to clear room for Traore by moving on Xherdan Shaqiri. The Swiss winger might join Lyon next week.
As for other options, Liverpool have moved on from Ismaila Sarr. Watford won’t sell for £30m, says the report, and the Reds weren’t willing to go above that.
Liverpool transfers: Adama Traore an option
We go back and forth on Traore as a signing. On the one hand, he’s got all the tools for Liverpool to build a star.
On the other, he’s now 25 and still not performing how people would hope. There might be better long-term projects out there.
Neither has shown a genuine inside-track on Liverpool’s transfer dealings. We can probably take all of this with many grains of salt, then.
Traore definitely ticks some boxes for Liverpool, a few of which are genuinely exciting. There is still a lot to doubt there, though, meaning we’d only really want him for a cheap price.
But without strong claims of real interest, there isn’t much to get excited about here. We’ll wait and see without expecting all that much.
