Report: Liverpool expect Harvey Elliott to replace Xherdan Shaqiri

Liverpool are close to selling Xherdan Shaqiri to Lyon. The Reds have sold a host of players this summer and the Swiss international looks set to be the next out of the door. According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool expect Harvey Elliott to replace Xherdan Shaqiri in the senior squad.

Xherdan Shaqiri near Lyon move

It looks like Shaq’s time on Merseyside is drawing to a close.

Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that a Xherdan Shaqiri move to Lyon is nearly done.

L’Equipe has claimed that the 96-cap international has agreed personal terms with the French side.

Now it is just a case of the two sides agreeing on a fee with Di Marzio stating that the Reds are holding out for £6.5m.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Harvey Elliott is seen as the replacement for Shaqiri.

Jürgen Klopp and his staff have been impressed by the youngster in pre-season with the teenager building on a successful loan spell at Blackburn Rovers last term.

Harvey Elliott has been so impressive in pre-season, he looks more than ready to take on Shaq’s role in the squad.

He’ll be rotated in and out of the team dependent on injuries and fatigue.

The youngster could also make a decent impact sub.
