Liverpool are currently shy of quality in depth in the final third. We need to reinforce our attack whilst also identifying successors for an ageing front line. Twitter has reacted to claims Liverpool are hoping to sign Jeremy Doku this summer.

Lack of depth

The front three will all turn 30-years-old before the start of next season.

Our much famed and feared attacking trident only have cover and competition in the form of Diogo Jota.

The Portugal star is the only one effectively covering each of the three positions – Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri have proven they aren’t up to the task.

When you couple the lack of depth with the age of the starting three then you get a picture of why we need reinforcements up top.

Liverpool want to sign Jeremy Doku

Back in 2018 Liverpool tried to sign Jeremy Doku. The Guardian reported previously on how the club told the player’s father that the teenager is seen as a natural successor to Sadio Mane.

The Belgian decided to sign with Anderlecht due to guarantees of first team football from the off.

Last summer he moved to Rennes for around £22m and he impressed in his debut season in France, earning a 7.07 WhoScored rating across 30 games.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool want to sign Jeremy Doku this summer.

The journalist has told LFC Transfer Room that the Reds have already contacted the player’s sporting agency to sound out a potential £42.5m deal.

Twitter reaction

Plenty of Kopites are buzzing about the news, particularly given that Sacha Tavolieri is typically spot on with news about Belgian players – he called the Romelu Lukaku move to Chelsea back in May.
