Who is Jeremy Doku?

Plenty of Kopites will already be familiar with Jeremy Doku.

Back in 2018 the Reds did their best to sign him.

According to The Guardian he was invited to Melwood and introduced to club legend Steven Gerrard.

The player’s father said that Jürgen Klopp told the family that Doku could succeed Sadio Mane at Liverpool.

However, the youngster decided to stay in Belgium for a while. Last summer he joined Rennes in a deal worth around £22m.

Last term he earned an impressive 7.07 WhoScored rating for his 30 league appearances.

Over the summer he shone at Euro 2020 whilst in World Cup Qualifying he scored one and assisted two against Belarus.

Liverpool want Jeremy Doku

The Reds could return for the young winger sooner rather than later.

According to reliable journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool want to sign Jeremy Doku this summer.

Speaking to The Anfield Talk, the journo reported that the Reds are set to accelerate their interest and make a move in the coming weeks if they can shift some fringe stars.

He is also quoted by LFC Transfer Room as saying Liverpool are ‘already in touch’ with the player’s agency.

Rennes are said to want around £42.5m for the 19-year-old.

What RTK has to say

There could be some legs in this one.

Sacha Tavolieri is typically on the money when it comes to Belgian players.

Back in May he reported that Chelsea were working on re-signing Romelu Lukaku.

If Liverpool do sign Doku then it’d be an exciting move, he has mountains of potential and he has world class players to learn from.

We’ll be keeping our eyes on this one.
