Liverpool are expected to bring in some fresh faces before the window closes. Fans want a midfielder to replace Gini Wijnaldum and a forward to add competition to the front line. According to Fabrizio Romano, we could see movement with reported Liverpool target Renato Sanches in the coming days.
What fans want
The Reds’ fanbase is split between supporters who believe we need to strengthen in midfield and attack and those who thinks the other fans just want shiny new toys.
It’s easy to understand why fans want these signings made.
Gini Wijnaldum played a lot of minutes for the Reds, he rarely missed a game in the Premier League.
His departure for PSG on a free transfer has left us with a lack of reliability in the middle of the park.
Signing another midfielder would give us more security in midfield, we’re two injuries away from being left short handed.
Liverpool and Renato Sanches update
This week has seen further news on the Reds’ potential midfield additions.
Mundo Deportivo claimed that Liverpool are the most likely to sign Renato Sanches in a £34m deal.
The outlet reported that the Reds are better placed than Barcelona due to the Spanish side’s financial issues.
Fabrizio Romano has added to the news surrounding Liverpool and Sanches, telling his Here We Go Podcast:
“It’s Barcelona and Liverpool that are interested in Renato Sanches – but the price tag is around 40 million euros so we will see what happens in the coming days.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Sanches is one of those stories which just won’t go away.
We can only see this happening if another midfielder leaves.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury-free pre-season might have done enough to convince Jürgen Klopp he has enough men in the middle.
However, relying on The Ox’s fitness could be risky.
We can only wait and see with this one.
