Liverpool are in need of a striker. The Reds have a severe lack of competition up top and it’s leading to a deadly combination of fatigue and complacency. Spurs have reportedly agreed a £60m fee for Lautaro Martinez, Liverpool simply have to match the North London side’s bid.
Striker needed urgently
At the moment there is only one natural striker in reserve: Divock Origi.
The Belgian has scored some monumental goals for us down the years but in between these fairytale moments he has been wholly ineffective.
We need to bring in quality in depth for the front line, as it stands the attack is stretched too thin.
This means that an injury or two could leave us in the lurch and players are being ran into the ground.
Furthermore, the lack of competition can lead to complacency in the side.
Spurs agree Lautaro Martinez fee
Other sides in the Premier League have been moving for star strikers.
Chelsea are expected to complete a deal for Romelu Lukaku in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the Inter Milan star’s teammate could follow him to London.
According to The Times, Spurs have agreed a fee for Lautaro Martinez.
The outlet has claimed the North London side has struck a £60m deal with Inter Milan for their 23-year-old striker.
Liverpool need to match Lautaro bid
There is a desperate need for a striker at Anfield.
Liverpool moving for Lautaro Martinez would make perfect sense.
He gets goals – last season he bagged 17 in Serie A – and he is adept at bringing his teammates into play.
Furthermore, at just 23-years-old he has the time to adapt his game to mirror the best parts of Roberto Firmino’s style.
We know the price now, Michael Edwards just has to match it. Letting Lautaro Martinez slip by could be a huge mistake.
