Barcelona have put Ilaix Moriba up for sale, according to reports. Liverpool should see what they can do.
This comes from Mundo Deportivo. They claim Barcelona are now ready to sell Ilaix Moriba this summer – for the right price.
Moriba’s contract expires soon and he won’t sign a new one. The Catalonians have tried everything they can to force him into a deal, including relegating him to their B Team for pre-season.
In fact, they’ve even dropped him for some of their reserve games. They’re not messing around, here.
Yet they’ve apparently come to the conclusion that Moriba just doesn’t want to continue with Barcelona. They’ll now sell the player, or at least try to. They’re content with letting him sit out the remainder of his contract if it comes to that.
But we don’t think Liverpool should let it. Moriba could be a fine signing.
Barcelona to sell Ilaix Moriba
This is quite an interesting one as Barcelona were reportedly very high on Moriba last season. In fact, Mundo Deportivo reported in April that they might call off their Gini Wijnaldum pursuit because of him.
They’d rather have developed Moriba into a star than sign the Dutchman, seeing him as a relatively similar player. And perhaps that should raise eyebrows at Liverpool.
The Reds need to replace Wijnaldum, after all. There’s no immediate rush, however, as the first-team options are still strong.
But in Moriba, they’d potentially find a future star who can play a role they need. We’re not sure what Barcelona’s asking-price is – anything reasonable and Liverpool should get involved.
They wouldn’t be the only ones, though. Manchester City and Chelsea are apparently among those with interest.
Moriba has enough talent that Liverpool should put up a fight. Barcelona saw him as a Wijnaldum alternative – perhaps the Reds should, too.
