Liverpool have to step up their transfer dealings in the coming weeks. The Reds still have plenty to do. We have too many centre backs and not enough forwards. As a result we’re expecting a defender to be shipped out. Despite this, some fans are furious that Ben Davies will reportedly be sent out on loan instead of being sold.
Ins and outs
So far the Reds have only made one major signing in Ibrahima Konate.
On the other hand there has been plenty of players sold but still not enough.
Marko Grujic was sold to Porto, though there’s some debate as to whether it was a straight sale or loan with obligation to buy.
In addition Harry Wilson was sold to Fulham, ending his long stay with the Reds.
Taiwo Awoniyi and Liam Millar have also departed the club.
We still need to bring in a centre midfielder and a striker but we may need to raise further funds first through the sales of Nat Phillips, Neco Williams, Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi.
Liverpool u-turn on Ben Davies loan
In February the Reds made two deadline day additions.
Ozan Kabak arrived on loan from Schalke whilst Ben Davies was brought in from Preston.
The Turkish centre back filled in for the remainder of the season but the Reds decided against a permanent move.
The ex-Preston man failed to make a single appearance following his deadline day move. Despite this worrying stat, The Mirror reported that Jürgen Klopp was intent on keeping the defender around.
However, the club appeared to have u-turned and are now willing to let Ben Davies leave on loan.
Goal has reported the Reds are open to a temporary deal with Bournemouth, Celtic and Sheffield United all interested.
Some fans are furious with the strange piece of business. Many want him sold straight away and are questioning why we disrupted his career like this. Meanwhile, others understand the loan decision.
