Liverpool are in the market for a midfielder and a forward this summer. The Reds are in dire need of reinforcements following a season ruined by injuries and a lack of squad depth. According to reports in Spain, Liverpool want Marco Asensio from Real Madrid.
Marco Asensio bio
25-year-old utility man Marco Asensio came through the youth ranks at Mallorca.
He was snapped up by Real Madrid back in 2014 and has showed promise throughout his time in the Capital.
Capable of playing in any attacking midfield role he is noted for his close control and eye for a pass.
He’s played 194 times in all competitions for Los Blancos, netting 37 goals.
Back in 2017 the Spaniard signed a new deal with a release clause of £442m.
Liverpool want Marco Asensio
The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid for some time.
Although he’s always shown promise he’s failed to fully realise his enormous potential.
El Gol has claimed Liverpool want Marco Asensio but the Reds face competition from Arsenal and Spurs.
Madrid would allegedly demand around £34m for the playmaker, an admittedly bargain fee.
What RTK has to say
We don’t exactly trust El Gol as a source but this is a rumour worth commenting on.
Liverpool signing Marco Asensio would make sense in terms of his age and versatility.
However, he would likely command an enormous paypacket which wouldn’t line up with our wage structure.
Furthermore he ruptured his cruciate a couple of years ago and this could be a worrying sign for our overworked physios.
