Alisson Becker has a new contract and Liverpool fans couldn’t be happier. The Brazilian is tied down long-term.

First, it was Trent Alexander-Arnold, then Fabinho and now Alisson Becker has a new Liverpool contract. The Reds moved quickly to tie down three of their most important players.

The club announced the deal on Wednesday and per the Athletic, this is a six-year contract. Alisson is sticking around until 2027, then.

That’s a real statement of commitment from both Liverpool and Alisson. The Reds guarantee themselves a world-class goalkeeper for the foreseeable future, while the Brazilian shows his love for the club.

This is one to delight everyone, then, and it’s hard to see a single negative. Alisson is staying and fans, understandably, are thrilled.

What really stands out from the reaction is what this contract means. And it’s all good.

The first Tweet is the most telling. It wasn’t long ago that something like this wasn’t possible at Liverpool – elite players weren’t tying themselves down to the club.

We’d get contracts like Luis Suarez’s, where he agreed to a contact that bumped up his release clause, with no real expectation that he’d stick around.

This, though, is Alisson firmly planting his roots at Anfield.

And that, along with the Fabinho and Alexander-Arnold deals, secures Liverpool a magnificent core to build around. It’s magnificent to see – the Reds will be a force for years to come.
