Who is Jonathan David?

21-year-old forward Jonathan David plies his trade at Lille.

The Canadian striker joined the French side from Gent last summer for around £25.6m.

Able to play anywhere across the front three, the striker is noted for his pace and dribbling ability as well as his finishing.

Last term David netted 13 goals and bagged two assists as his side beat PSG to the league title.

Liverpool want Jonathan David

Last summer Liverpool had Jonathan David on their shortlist.

James Pearce reported that the Canadian was an option along with Ismaila Sarr at Watford.

However, the Reds opted for Diogo Jota following David’s move to Lille.

This summer could see interest in the Canadian reignited.

The French Ligue 1 is facing a financial crisis due to a collapse in TV money.

Clubs are facing the prospect of having to sell their best players to stay afloat.

According to TSN Sports in Canada, Liverpool have Jonathan David very high on their list of potential signings if Lille look to cash in on the youngster.

What RTK has to say

Liverpool signing David would be a fantastic move.

The 21-year-old has mountains of potential and plenty of first team experience at a young age.

He is the ideal age to come in and cover for Roberto Firmino whilst also providing competition for his place in the side.

Fingers crossed we can do a deal at a bargain price here.
