Liverpool announced a new contract for Fabinho on Tuesday that saw fans react with glee. The Brazilian is tied down for the foreseeable future.
Fabinho has a new contract with Liverpool. The Reds announced the deal on Tuesday.
It’s for five years, per the Athletic, effectively tying down the player for his prime years. In that sense, it’s one of the most important pieces of business Liverpool could do this summer.
Fabinho is one of the few stars who is right in the middle of his prime. Most are either pushing 30 and moving out of theirs or, like Trent Alexander-Arnold, still very young.
Liverpool guarantee themselves a world-class player for the next five years with this contract. Fabinho is someone the Reds can build a midfield around and comfortably rely on for the duration of the deal.
It’s fantastic to see and well worth shouting about. Liverpool fans certainly did that, with many jumping on Twitter to react to the Fabinho contract.

The investment is here. That’s where the money is going. Signings are lovely, but retaining top talent is key to success under Klopp.

Weirdos will continue to cry about a lack of investment. It’s just not the kind of investment they want.
Consistently great in midfield and reliable when called upon in defense. Class player.

There was a time not too long ago that this would have been a worry. Fabinho was entering the final two years of his deal and the pressure to sell now could have been strong.

Instead, Liverpool moved to tie down a star player for his prime. It’s representative of the club’s growth over the last few years that there wasn’t much doubt about it all.
But still, this is certainly worthy of celebration. Fabinho is a Liverpool player and that isn’t changing anytime soon.
