Liverpool are expected to move for an attacker during the summer transfer window. The Reds are in need of reinforcements up top due to a distinct lack of cover. According to reports in Italy, Liverpool can talk to Mikkel Damsgaard after a £30m bid is made.
Who is Mikkel Damsgaard?
21-year-old Dane Mikkel Damsgaard is under contract at Sampdoria.
The youngster came through the academy ranks at Nordsjælland before joining the Serie A side.
A versatile player, he can be deployed on either wing, at centre midfield, as a striker or behind the forward.
Many will remember his name from Euro 2020 where he had a standout tournament, netting two and assisting one, including a remarkable free kick against England (which a good goalkeeper would’ve saved).
Last term he started 18 and made 17 sub appearances for Sampdoria.
Liverpool ask about Mikkel Damsgaard
The Reds are hopefully in the market for front line reinforcements.
According to Sport Mediaset in Italy, Liverpool have asked about Mikkel Damsgaard.
The Reds have allegedly asked for info about the Danish utility man’s situation with Sampdoria said to be open to a sale at £30m, the report states that if a bid matching this valuation comes in then negotiations can take off.
However, Jürgen Klopp would supposedly face competition from Spurs and Aston Villa among other Premier League sides.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool moving for Damsgaard wouldn’t be a surprise.
This is because we’ve come to expect the unexpected.
The Reds’ recruitment team pick out players we’d never have thought of ourselves.
Sure, he had an impressive Euros but he’s not a regular starter at a mid-table side. However, if Michael Edwards likes him then so do we.
