Liverpool are in the market for a midfielder this summer…we hope. The Reds are down a reliable star and reinforcements are needed as a result. One title winner keeps cropping up as a potential signing. According to The Mirror, Liverpool have permission to speak to Saul.

Who is Saul and why is he needed
The Reds sold Dejan Lovren last summer and decided against replacing him.
At the time the move was seen as a gamble, within weeks it had backfired.
We lost every senior centre back to injury and learned a hard lesson.
This summer the Reds lost Gini Wijnaldum on a free transfer to PSG.
Following the Lovren incident we can’t afford to not replace Gini, he played more minutes for us than anybody else during Jürgen Klopp’s reign.
26-year-old Spaniard Saul Niguez plays as a centre midfielder for Atletico Madrid.
Also able to play in the holding role and on the wing, the utility man came through the youth ranks at Atleti.
He’s somewhat fallen out of favour in recent months, leading to plenty of speculation around his future; the 19-cap star is expected to be on the move.
Liverpool can speak to Saul agents
This is a saga which has dragged on and on but we may have light at the end of the tunnel.
According to The Mirror, Liverpool have permission to speak to Saul.
The outlet has claimed that Atleti has given the player’s agents the club’s blessing to fly into England to negotiate a move to the Premier League.
Manchester United are said to be front runners with the Reds also expected to make a move.
The Mirror has pointed out the player has a release clause of £125m but Atletico will accept bids in the region of £35-40m.
What RTK has to say
Just a year ago, maybe a bit longer, Atletico would’ve demanded the full £125m.
However, with the player falling out of favour and financial woes plaguing nearly every top side, the Mattress Makers will have to do a deal.
The Reds signing him for £90m below his release clause would prove a bargain.
Just because Diego Simeone doesn’t want to use him as often now doesn’t mean he’s a bad player.
Jürgen Klopp can get him fit and firing again, we could be set for a masterstroke piece of business.
