Liverpool are looking to sign two players from Ligue 1, according to reports. The Reds have some highly-rated players in mind.
This comes from Le10Sport. They claim Liverpool have two Ligue 1 players in mind when it comes to boosting their midfield.
The other player is Eduardo Camavinga. He’s another with links you can trace back for some time – Spanish daily Sport had Liverpool as interested back in March 2020.
Both players are very highly rated. Aouar is the more experienced of the two, having long been an integral player with Lyon. He’s still only 23, however – there’s a tonne of potential.
Camavinga is still only 18 but already a full French international. He’s one of the hottest properties in Ligue 1 right now and, arguably, European football.
Liverpool look at Ligue 1
Looking towards Ligue 1 is smart – there’s an awful lot of value in the league right now. French football is going through something of a financial crisis, putting virtually everyone up for sale.
The Athletic details the situation here. A collapsed TV has left every club short on cash. Couple that with the pandemic and things are tight.
Players like Aouar and Camavinga aren’t just up for sale, then – they’re cheap. Take the former, for instance.
The Telegraph had him down as a £54m player last September. Now? Le10Sport say you could sign him for £17m.
That’s an enormous price cut. The kind you virtually never see, in truth.
Liverpool have a gap in their midfield after Gini Wijnaldum left, making both French stars worthwhile signings. For the right price, of course. Fortunately, that price may be very attainable.
We’ve thought Aouar, in particular, is a great fit for Liverpool. Camavinga would be, too. Hopefully, the Reds can find a way to make one of these deals work.
But then, Le10Sport also link us with Paul Pogba. So maybe there isn’t as much in this as we hoped…
