Paul Pogba to Liverpool? That’s been put on the table, according to reports. So how did fans react?
Le10Sport reported on Thursday that Paul Pogba had been offered to Liverpool. Mino Raiola did the deed, they say, wanting to know if the Reds could make it happen this summer.
And that is the most ridiculous transfer rumour we’ve ever heard. It actually surpasses the Thierry Henry talk from 2006 – though, at least those ones were just hearsay. The Pogba talk comes from a professional outlet.
It doesn’t need too much explaining for why this just won’t happen. You can say things like ‘how would they afford his wages?’ or ‘he wouldn’t fit with Klopp’s playing style!’.
But both miss the point – Manchester United wouldn’t even pick up the phone. There is literally no chance that they’d sell Pogba to Liverpool. They’d almost certainly rather give him to anyone else for free.
Apparently, Liverpool told Raiola that it wouldn’t be possible this summer (we literally cannot believe that was a suggestion). Maybe they’ll revisit it in January when there are only six months left on his deal.
But even that doesn’t make sense – Liverpool, as a fellow English club, couldn’t negotiate for Pogba until the following June.
Le10Sport, though, claim they only said that to dismiss Raiola. This isn’t one that’s happening. It’s almost certainly all fictional.
Paul Pogba to Liverpool? No.
So how did Liverpool fans react to this one? As you’d expect – with laughter.
So yeah, no one sees this one as an actual real-life possibility. And it isn’t – it’s the most ridiculous Liverpool transfer rumour we’ve ever heard.
Paul Pogba is not going to join Liverpool, probably ever. And it certainly won’t be from Manchester United. We can’t believe that needs saying.
