There’s plenty of interest in Harvey Elliott right now, according to reports. Liverpool have a clear stance on the player, however.
This comes from the Athletic. They claim there is ‘plenty of interest’ in Harvey Elliott right now.
And of course there is – Elliott was outstanding last season. The teenager went off on loan to Blackburn Rovers to play his first full, senior season and it was an overwhelming success.
Elliott scored four, assisted 11 and kept up with some of the Championship’s best players. It was outrageously good for such a young and inexperienced player.
And given Elliott only turned 18 in 2021, it’s clear he’s only going to get better. Next season should see a superior player to the last one and that has teams interested.
The Athletic names one club – Sheffield United. The Blades just suffered through an awful Premier League season that resulted in relegation and a 20th-place finish.
They’ll want to bounce back immediately and it appears they see Elliott as a great way to do just that. They asked Liverpool about a loan deal and the Reds’ stance was clear.
Liverpool reject Harvey Elliott interest
Sheffield United are apparently not the only club who were told ‘no’. Liverpool will not let Elliott leave on loan this summer and he’s going to be part of the senior squad at Anfield.
That’s a lot of faith in an inexperienced teenager, given Liverpool will harbour title hopes. But Jurgen Klopp feels he’s up to the task, again per the Athletic.
It’s an exciting prospect, albeit a risky one. No one actually knows how well Elliott will play in the top flight, given he’s never done it for an extended period.
But Liverpool appear to have faith in him and that’s good enough for us. And as we say, Elliott appears ready for rapid development. If that is the case, he could be a star by the end of the season, if all goes well.
