Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has played down speculation linking him with succeeding Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout.
The German manager is likely to leave Merseyside at the end of his contract in 2024.
While it is not a guarantee that Klopp will stay for just three more seasons, it looks very possible at this stage.
So, speculation has turned to who will replace him, with Gerrard the most-spoken about name.
However, the Rangers boss does not welcome this speculation.
Speaking to ESPN, he said: “I can’t control any media speculation about my position.
“I don’t welcome it, I don’t add to it. All I do is focus on the job I have here and I’m very flattered and grateful for the position.
“I’m very happy here, I’ve said it on numerous occasions, it’s a huge club.
“I’m settled, I’m happy and I can continue to develop and keep trying to push this team forward.”
RTK View: Gerrard could be the perfect Klopp successor – but perhaps not immediately

It seems inevitable that Steven Gerrard will become Liverpool’s manager someday.
He is arguably the biggest legend in the club’s history and is currently proving himself in the managerial hot seat at a very high level.
His Rangers side had an unbeaten season in the Scottish Premiership last season, winning the title at a canter.
It was the Gers’ first title since suffering administration and relegation to the Third Division in 2012.
This has secured Gerrard legendary status at Ibrox.
So of course, he does not want to speak about other jobs while he is still working in Glasgow.
He plays a very similar style to Klopp, which could make a potential Gerrard switch simple enough for everyone.
However, a lot can happen in three years.
We would like to see Gerrard prove himself somewhere else first, rather than go straight from Rangers to Liverpool.
It could make sense for the Reds to hire a Marco Rose or a Julian Nagelsmann in 2024 before allowing Gerrard to take over from them.
However, this opinion will likely change a fair few times before we actually have to worry about it.
