3 players Liverpool can turn to after failing with Federico Chiesa bid

3 players Liverpool can turn to after failing with Federico Chiesa bid

Liverpool bid for Federico Chiesa last week, according to reports. Here are three players they can turn to after failing with that offer.

Gazzetta Dello Sport claims Liverpool made a bid for Federico Chiesa last week. They’re not alone in that, either – La Repubblica says the same thing.

Both reports believe £86m was put on the table, only for Juventus to reject it. And with an offer that high, we can’t believe Liverpool will bid until the Old Lady says yes.

So what now? Well, here are three alternatives the Reds might just get their hands on.

Hamad Traore

Let’s stay in Serie A for the first. Hamad Traore is a 21-year-old winger for Sassuolo, having just signed their permanently after two years on loan.

He’s also the alleged brother of Manchester United winger Amad Diallo. We say alleged as a trafficking case puts that into dispute – there’s a lot of confusion over the two players and their backgrounds.

But what is clear is that Traore is a talented player. He’s quick, agile, and very hard-working. He averages just under two tackles a game, for instance, which is a fantastic rate for an attacking player.

Traore is a very tricky player who likes to pop up with an interception, knock the ball past players, and play with freedom. We’re not sure what he’d cost right now but there’s little doubt that Liverpool could develop him into something great.

Speaking of players with confusing backgrounds, there’s Silas. You may know him as Silas Wamangituka, which was his name up until a few months ago.

It turns out that his agent forged documents, however, changing his name and date of birth. Silas wasn’t exactly who he said he was.

What he is, though, is a wonderfully talented winger. Silas scored 11 Bundesliga goals last season, set up another four, and averaged two tackles per game.

He’s a do-it-all player and quite similar to Chiesa in that regard. And at 22, his potential seems huge.

Pedro Neto

Here’s a more straightforward one. Pedro Neto has been one of the best young players in the Premier League over the last two seasons.

We think he’s a superstar in the making if Liverpool can get their hands on him. It sounds like that’s quite possible, too – 90min reports that Wolves might sell.

Neto isn’t quite as diverse as the other two but he makes up for that in being better going forward. He’s quick, tricky and knows the Premier League inside out.

The 21-year-old is currently recovering from a bad knee injury, though. But assuming he’s going to be okay, perhaps that shaves a bit off his price.

Certainly, he’s one to watch.
