Last season was one to forget for Liverpool fans. Kopites are now just looking forward to the next campaign. One man was dearly missed throughout the season. Liverpool fans are ecstatic that Virgil van Dijk could return to action against Hertha Berlin this week.

Virgil van Dijk injury and consequences
Last summer the Reds made the decision to sell Dejan Lovren without replacing him.
The gamble backfired within weeks of the season starting.
Jordan Pickford recklessly lunged into Virgil van Dijk causing a season ending injury in October.
The commanding centre half missed the duration of the campaign with Joe Gomez and Joel Matip joining him.
The injury crisis led to a dramatic drop off in form from January onwards.
Thankfully, the Reds managed to scrape into a top four finish once we clawed back some stability in the centre of defence.

The boss has given Kopites reason to celebrate.
Jürgen Klopp has announced that Virgil van Dijk could return for Liverpool v Hertha Berlin.
The Reds take on the German side this Thursday afternoon.
Speaking to the official club site the boss said:
“I hope, I am not sure, that there is the opportunity that Virgil could play a few minutes.
“He looks really good in training and maybe we can bring [him in], but I need to have some final conversations. He looks ready and we will see.”
