West Ham United are looking at two transfers from Liverpool, according to reports. The Hammers like the look of a couple of Reds.
We’re going off two reports here, so let’s treat them separately. West Ham apparently want transfers for two Liverpool players, though both are at very early stages.
Nat Phillips
The Athletic reports that West Ham are one of a few clubs after Nat Phillips. The Hammers have made their interest known to Liverpool but that’s all at this stage.
The Reds would want around £15m in order to sell Phillips and there’s no strong desire to do so. A transfer only happens if the player actively asks for it.
We imagine Phillips would, though. West Ham would be a fantastic move for him, given their progression last season. And at 24, he could really use a club like that.
Phillips is a wonderful player who could kick on even further next year. But it’s hard to see how he does that with Liverpool as there are four players in front of him.
West Ham could give Phillips a great place to spend his prime years. If they’re willing to put up £15m, it feels like a good deal all-around.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
A source named ExWHUemployee has this one. They’re a supposed ‘in the know’ who frequently gets these things right. Our sister site Hammers News trusts them and that’s enough for us.
The source claims West Ham are looking at Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. They’d only want him on loan, however, and he’s their third-choice target.

They’ll likely only put an offer in if they fail to land either Jesse Lingard or Matheus Pereira. So to say this is in the early stages might be an understatement.
And in truth, we can’t see it happening. Loaning out Oxlade-Chamberlain has no benefit for Liverpool, especially as Gini Wijnaldum’s exit leaves them a midfielder down already.
Add in plans to use him as a forward this season and it’s clear Liverpool want him around. A non-starter, it seems.
